Services for Professionals

The professionals that work with our children can be very important to our child as well as to us as parents. When a good relationship develops between a family and professionals, it makes our life so much easier. When the relationship is not good, it can make all involved miserable and the child can be the real loser. TxP2P work with families to learn better ways to communicate with professionals. We hope to help professionals learn more about the global effects of having a child with a disability or chronic illness in their family so they can better understand some of the stressors in our lives. To do that we offer the following services:

Medical Education Program (MEd.):
TxP2P’s Medical Education Program provides training to pediatric and family practice residents, using parents of children with disabilities and chronic illnessas Family Faculty. For more information, CLICK HERE!

Family to Family Health Information Center:
For more information about training opportunities or to set up a training for your group, contact Jeanine Pinner, Training & Outreach Coordinator, at 512-217-3558 or jeanine@txp2p.org or Debbie DeLuna, Bilingual Trainer, at 956-447-5568 or debbied@txp2p.org. For a listing of current presentations, CLICK HERE.

Parent Speakers for Medical, Education, or Religious Programs:
If you think your organization or office staff could benefit from hearing what life is like as a parent of a child with a disability, chronic illness or other special need, Texas Parent to Parent can provide speakers or a parent panel.

Parent Speakers for Colleges, Universities and Seminaries:
We believe that the more exposure college students get to the reality of the life of a family with a child with disabilities, chronic illness and other special needs, the better they will be able to do their job in the future. Therefore, Texas Parent to Parent offers parent panels to speak to classes in Social Work, Medical fields, Education and Seminary about what life is really like as a parent of a child with a disability.

Disability Related Organizations and Agencies:
Do you have a parent support component as part of your services? Texas Parent to Parent offers technical support for such things as parent-to-parent matching, facilitating emotional support groups, providing IEP/ARD support, etc.
