Welcome!!

Texas Parent to Parent is a non-profit, statewide program that provides support, resources and information to parents and caregivers of children of all ages and disabilities as well as to the professionals who work with them.  Our mission is to support children with disabilities, chronic illnesses, and other special needs by empowering their families to be advocates for them through peer support, resource referral and public awareness.

The following are family focused services:

  • Matching parents to trained Supporting Parent Volunteers who have children with similar disabilities or issues via email and telephone.
  • Providing resource information via a website resource directory or in writing to provide families with statewide and local resources.  These resources include long-term financial help, therapy centers, parent support groups, etc.
  • Providing a forum via email or telephone for families to get answers to specific questions about issues related to their child such as special education services, insurance, sibling’s issues, etc.
  • Providing fact sheets and quarterly newsletters to families via email or in writing.  Information provided will include information on specific disabilities, care for the caregiver, special education law, insurance issues, respite care, applicable websites, etc.
  • Providing technical support to families or parent groups for creating support systems within their communities.
  • Collaborating with other Texas statewide programs to provide an annual statewide disability conference for parents

While our services focus on children and families, we also have services for professionals.

  • Providing trainings to Pediatric and Family Practice Residents through our Medical Education Program, funded through the Texas Council on Developmental Disabilities.
  • Providing opportunities for professionals to learn from experienced trained parents about the stresses faced by families through educational and informational seminars and programs
  • Provide an annual statewide disability conference for parent

Welcome to our family!
