Texas Parent to Parent

Conference & Training: 8th Annual TxP2P Parent Conference

“Every year [we come to the conference] we learn more, and it gets better. I never thought that we would be at the place where we are today. Even though we have a lot of bad days, we have a lot of good days. We know what to do now. We know that every day is going to be different, but it is going to be okay. At the beginning, I think we didn’t know whether it was going to be okay or not. Now we know that there is so much out there. We are able to talk to other parents, so we know that we are on the same page with them. We know that it isn’t just us going through these things…”

The Annual TxP2P Parent Conference educates Texas parents about how to deal with the unique issues and challenges they face on a daily basis in caring for their children. The two-day conference offers them tracks with multiple sessions, each covering a different topic. This year’s themed tracks include the following: advocacy (general and legislative), autism, parenting and sibling issues including a one-day SibShop, special education law (basic to advanced), medical issues (including Medical Home and Medicaid Waiver Programs), behavior, mental health, parent leadership, resources and services, self-advocacy, self-determination, transition issues for youth and young adults with disabilities, and creating a good life for people with disabilities.

Through seminars and face-to-face networking, parents, self-advocates, family members, care-givers and professionals learn from each other as they continue their unique journeys caring for a child with a disability or a special health care need. TxP2P’s goal is for everyone to leave the conference with renewed energy and passion along with tools and information they need to make positive changes for children with disabilities in Texas.

Registration will be available in March 2012.

Speakers
Our speakers are the foundation of our conference - without our speakers, both parents and professionals, donating their time and travel expenses, our conference would not happen. Our call for speakers is now complete for the 2012 conference. If you would like to be put on the speakers list for next year, please sent an email to Laura@txp2p.org.

Sponsorship
Sponsors partner with TxP2P in order to improve our conference programming and outreach so that more parents will receive the knowledge and assistance they need to effectively advocate on behalf of their children. Earn recognition for your organization and help Texas families at the same time. Sponsorships are available at a variety of levels, and each comes with recognition options.

Exhibitors
TxP2P anticipates that more than 400 parents and professionals will attend the conference this year. The new conference facility offers an enhanced space which will be set up for two full days adjacent to all of the sessions. A conference promotion and door prize drawing will further encourage traffic. Sign up early to secure your space - Registration Form.
