Linda & Amy are the Public Policy Specialists with the TxP2P Advocacy Network (grant funded by TX Council for Development Disabilities) and this mother/daughter team train family members (parents, siblings, self-advocates, grandparents, etc.) and other interested parties to become a resource for local, county and state officials and to work with media to affect public policy about community-based services. Linda & Amy both have extensive experience in training families about advocacy and advocating for services for Amy.
Joey Gidseg works with Amy and Linda in TxP2P’s Advocacy Network as the TCDD Policy Fellow. In this capacity, Joey focuses on the intersection of disability, education and the criminal legal system for transition-aged young people, as well as ideas to increase access to justice. As a neurodivergent self-advocate, Joey’s goal is for everyone with disabilities to be assumed competent and capable and easily be able to obtain vocational rehabilitative services and opportunities for meaningful employment, especially self-employment, and live their lives free from oppression and exploitation. Joey’s pronouns are they/them/theirs, and they live in Austin with their two canine children.
