Texas Parent to Parent (TxP2P) has developed collaborative relationships with other state and national organizations serving children with special health care needs and their families. These relationships provide us with referrals as well as valuable resources to which we can refer parents, a way to share volunteers and information, and collaborate on projects.
Family to Family Health Information Centers
Family-to-Family Health Information Centers (F2F HICs) are non-profit, family-staffed organizations that help families of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and the professionals who serve them. Because the health care needs of CYSHCN are chronic and complex, parents and caregivers are often challenged with finding the resources to provide and finance health care for their children. F2FHICs are uniquely able to help families because they are by parents and family members of CYSHCN themselves who have first-hand experience navigating the maze of services and programs for CYSHCN. Staff at F2F HICs understand the issues that families face, provide advice, offer a multitude of resources, and tap into a network of other families and professionals for support and information, TxP2P is the F2F for Texas.
Parent to Parent USA
Texas Parent to Parent is an affiliate of Parent to Parent USA, which represents more than 600 local Parent to Parent organizations in the United States and 38 statewide organizations.
TxP2P is the Texas State Affiliate Organization for Family Voices, a national grassroots network of families and friends speaking on behalf of children with special health care needs. Family Voices aims to achieve family-centered care for all children and youth with special health care needs and/or disabilities by providing families the tools to make informed decisions, advocating for improved public and private policies, building partnerships among professionals and families, and serving as a trusted resource on health care. They also coordinate the Family to Family Health Care Information Centers (F2F HIC) across the nation on behalf of the federal government.
